Getting Started

At Infinity Designs we'll take the stress away from setting up your account and create the perfect account for you, however it is vital you appoint someone to take charge of your social networking. This can either be us utilising one of our Social Networking packages, or a dedicated person inside your business. However you choose, they need be able to proide content and ensure timely responses to all queries/issues, however trivial. Your Social Media Manager must be supported in doing so across the entire business and, in return, should inform business staff of latest developments (reminding them just how easy it is for both positive and negative comments to be made online).

How to identify your perfect Social Media Manager

  • They must have a full understanding of your business activities and corresponding marketing plans.
  • They must understand your brand values and those of your suppliers, manufacturers, clients etc.
  • They must be engaged with social media in their own time.
  • They must have a web-enabled mobile device (e.g iPhone, Blackberry etc) so that queries, issues and complaints can be responded to at short notice. It is worth noting that Facebook receives most visits on a Friday evening and Saturday morning.
  • Ensure you have delegate responsibilities in place to take charge during holidays, absence etc.
  • Many American motor dealers have reported spending 2-4 hours a day maintaining their Facebook and Twitter accounts, often outside of working hours. Are you staff prepared to do this?

A final word of caution

Perhaps the single biggest reason not to establish a social media presence is the commitment required to make it a success. The most popular Facebook pages are always well-maintained and up-to-date. When was the last time you saw (and returned to) a website that didn't provide fresh content on a regular basis?

If you decide to embark on building a Facebook page or similar social media activity, then ensure you have the time and resources available to manage it. It is better NOT to have a Facebook presence at all that to have one that is out of date and unmonitored.
